Airport Commercial Development is a niche airport consultancy for the global airport community. Our focus lays within eCommerce, Travel Retail and Commercial Due Diligence.We provide advice to the financial community as well as to airports. Our commercial strategy is based upon the assumption that a happy passenger makes a much more likely consumer.
Our clients include airports, investors, regional government, national CAA and other economic development bodies. They appreciate and value the high standards of our services: excellent experience of the team, established methodologies, deep understanding of the airport industry issues, data and superb contacts.
Our team have worked with major airport groups including AENA, Paris Airports, YVRAS and BAA. Our consultancy offices are based in the UK and Sweden.
Our team is drawn from the media, airport and the consulting community. One of our founders, Mr. Ian Lowden, was previously the MD of RDG Solutions and the editor of the Airport Commercial Revenue Study 2008-2009.

Commercial Health Check
Try our 3-day Health Check. This service, that either can be regarded as a stand alone module or a step of several to improve your commercial revenues, will begin with that we assess the extent of the revenue 'gap' at your airport.
This will be done through an evaluation of the key business performance against our expectations based on our experience, and measured against a benchmark sample of airports. We will begin the process by agreeing with you the benchmark sample of airports. We recommend that we use ones that are similar in size and traffic composition. We should also use airports in 'commercially focused' markets that are achieving respectable revenues per passenger.
All airports are different and it is extremely difficult to use benchmarking to assess their performance because of differences in design, traffic flow, airline composition, schedule, tastes and airport business drivers and the spending behaviour is also reflective of passenger segmentation.
Initially we would develop a data platform of the following:
- Traffic assessment
- Concession performance metrics
There will be a review of your commercial infrastructure to assess how to close the gap. The process will focus on specific factors that drive revenue. In particular:
- The floor plan of the airport
- The mixture of concessions
- Concessions terms
- Commercial organisation
The deliverables will be a written report and accompanying statistical tables and charts. We will be available for telephone and/or video-conference calls to discuss any questions or issues.
